How Do Plants Make Food? Plants are not parasites by nature, they produce their own food by growing and feeding themselves, and they produce their own food through a process called photosynthesis. Plants not only build the basic structure of glucose, but also produce other carbon-based chemicals such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium, which are crucial for plant growth and survival.
More importantly, chlorophyll absorbs light and uses it in the red and blue parts of the spectrum to trigger critical chemical reactions. CHLOROPHYLL molecules that absorb individual photons of light and exchange them with electrons within the chloroplasts. It contains a green pigment called CH lorophyll, which also gives the plant a green colour by reflecting green wavelengths.
Ultimately, the lost electrons in the water molecules in the leaf are replaced by a series of chemical reactions by those of the chloroplasts, and finally by oxygen atoms and water, which are lost as waste. The remaining hydrogen is collected and synthesized into carbohydrate molecules.
In some parts of the leaf stream, the carbon dioxide absorbed from the environment is reduced to carbon and oxygen. Oxygen is removed so that hydrogen can be combined with carbon in another process, that is, with simple sugars, to obtain the final product. This process, which produces the actual food for the plant, is called a dark reaction and does not require light. It can combine with other chemical reactions to produce organic compounds that plants may need, such as sugar.
In photosynthesis, the light that hits the leaf is used as a light source, which is not used directly but converted into chemical energy. Only 30-50% of these are stored in chemical energies in cells, and only about 20-30% in cells on the plant surface.
Photosynthesis is considered the most important process in life, as it helps plants grow and provides humans with the oxygen needed for life. Scientists believe photosynthesis by early green plants and algae created the Earth’s breathable atmosphere. Even today, plants filter harmful carbon dioxide from life and thus obtain oxygen. Plants produce their own food, feed the environment, preserve our ecosystem and still filter and filter water from the atmosphere, which preserves oxygen for all of us.
